22-29.11.02 Our works (Sick Doll/Doll’s Burial, La boite a musique 1, The Symmetrical Jukebox) will be presented at Pixxelpoint 2002, International Computer Art Festival, Nova Gorica, Slovenia

The jury of Pixxelpoint 2002 decided to award the first prize to our work Sick Doll / Doll Burial… “Compositional congruity and idea, counter point and the innovative use of the computer-sound capabilities are criteria that the jury has set in assessing works in this category. The award has been conferred for the sensible wholeness of the work. Throughout the piece, the author has managed to create a specific atmosphere and arouse interest. He is a master of complex rhythmics. He selects the sound thoughtfully and layers them into an imaginary music space. Combined as a whole, these qualities indicate a specific personal style and creative approach. What he achieves is a quality necessary to call sounds and rhythms music…”

fascinating, challenging, experimental, not easy,
disturbing, brilliant, creative, beautiful and
powerful, not to mention mysterious and profound, at
times.

that was really something, folks, thanx a lot, it is
really something for a true music lover who has some
industrial/experimental background to encounter such a
thing in his own country, that was really touching.

keep it up, be brave, and please don’t be discouraged
by the lack of adequate feedback.

22.08.02 Ant Weiss – PC, vocal, recorder flute, Igor Krutogolov – bass-guitar, vocal, recorder flute, Ruslan Gross – clarinet at JahPan, Tel Aviv

A lengthy improvisation track by the Crossfishes concludes this album captures the stage brilliantly with an anti-war anthem that emotes horror. Although one wonders where the improvisation is heading during the first minutes, the musicians coalesce and their anti-war message emerges: ‘Covered with come / covered with blood / covered with oil / covered with oil / then I took out a box of matches / and took out a match / and then I lit it / and then I set myself on fire / oh, I am a lonely candle in the wind / oh, can you see me burning? / Yes, we can see the bodies burning. Eleven dead in Jerusalem today, more predicted tomorrow. Voices explode in the street. Ant Weis’s anguished wails build up to finish the album, a passionate warning against the hideousness of war. By its close, this album is anti-apocalypticism, a resistance to all-consuming violence.

The Crossfishes will try to explore the depths of modern day musical shamanizm. The band featuring many central figures of local avangard music scene. This is music that’s born in front of you, that pulls you inside, into the stream, in which you can live and die, only to be born again.
